Drum Fertilizer Cooler

The drum fertilizer cooler is a reliable piece of equipment designed for stable operation and precise material cooling; within a fertilizer production line, it cools high-temperature granules discharged from the dryer to an optimal temperature. Both the airflow rate and the drum rotation speed are adjustable, allowing operators to set parameters based on feed temperature and production requirements. The cooling process is continuous and automated, operating in tandem with the dryer and requiring minimal manual intervention. Routine operation involves monitoring discharge temperatures, checking equipment status, and adjusting airflow—tasks that are easily mastered by workers.

Working Principle

High-temperature granular material is fed directly from the dryer’s discharge end into the cooler’s inlet and enters the rotating drum. Lifting flights (lifters) on the inner drum wall lift and scatter the material, creating a “curtain” of granules. Ambient air is drawn into the drum by a fan, facilitating thorough heat exchange with the material. Heat transfers from the granules to the air, causing the material temperature to drop gradually. Driven by the drum’s inclination and rotation, the material moves toward the discharge end; once cooled, it is continuously discharged for screening or packaging.

Operation Methods

Before startup, check the drum for material accumulation, inspect the lifting flights and liners for integrity, and ensure the drive system is properly lubricated.

Start the drum rotation and the induced draft fan first; once the unit is running smoothly under no-load conditions, open the inlet to begin receiving material from the dryer.

Adjust the fan airflow based on the feed temperature; if the discharge temperature is too high, increase the airflow or slightly reduce the feed rate. Monitor the discharge temperature regularly during production and fine-tune the fan frequency if temperature fluctuations occur.

To shut down, stop the feed first, wait for the drum to empty, turn off the fan, and finally stop the drum rotation.
