What accounts for the price difference between organic fertilizer equipment and bio-organic fertilizer equipment?

When planning a fertilizer production line, equipment investment is a core decision-making factor. There is a notable price gap between equipment for standard organic fertilizer and that for bio-organic fertilizer.

Taking a granular production line with an annual capacity of 10,000 to 20,000 tons as an example, the equipment investment for a standard organic fertilizer production line typically ranges from 150,000 to 350,000 RMB. A bio-organic fertilizer production line of the same scale, equipped with a complete granulation system, requires a higher investment—generally 15% to 30% more than that of a standard organic fertilizer line.

This price difference stems primarily from three stages:

The microbial inoculant addition stage: The production line requires additional equipment for metering, mixing, and conveying the microbial inoculants to ensure they are distributed uniformly. Because these inoculants are sensitive to temperature and shear forces, the mixing equipment demands more sophisticated design and specialized materials, which drives up costs.

The granulation stage: While standard organic fertilizer can be processed using disc or rotary drum granulators—followed by drying and cooling—bio-organic fertilizer often requires dry-type extrusion granulation to avoid high temperatures that would inactivate the beneficial microbes. Although this eliminates the need for a drying system, it imposes stricter requirements on the granulator’s pressure capacity and temperature control.

The fermentation stage: Bio-organic fertilizer requires more precise control over temperature and the frequency of turning (aeration) to ensure proper decomposition and minimize contamination by unwanted microorganisms. Consequently, the turning equipment and temperature control systems must be upgraded accordingly.

If your budget is limited and you focus primarily on powdered bio-organic fertilizer, you can omit the granulation and drying equipment, keeping the basic investment within the range of 50,000 to 150,000 RMB. However, if your goal is to produce granular fertilizer with specific requirements for live microbial content, you will need to allocate a larger budget for the granulation and fermentation stages.
