BB fertilizer production process: Controlling uniformity from raw materials to finished product

The BB fertilizer production process is essentially a battle against non-uniformity. From the intake of raw materials to the packaging of the finished product, every step revolves around a core objective: ensuring that granules of varying specific gravities and particle sizes maintain a stable nutrient ratio within every bag.

Raw material preparation is the starting point. Upon arrival at the plant, materials such as urea, monoammonium phosphate (MAP), and potassium chloride must be inspected for moisture content and particle size. Excessive moisture can lead to clogging and caking, while particle sizes that are too large or too small affect mixing uniformity; screening is performed when necessary.

Formulation and batching. The input quantity for each raw material is determined based on the target N-P-K ratio. An electronic batching system automatically weighs the materials according to set values, typically maintaining an accuracy within ±0.2%.

The mixing stage. Once materials enter the specialized NPK blending machine, convective and diffusive mixing occurs within seconds to a few minutes, driven by the rotation of the drum and the action of internal components. Mixing time requires strict control: insufficient time results in poor uniformity, while excessive time causes heat generation from particle friction and the production of fines (dust).

Preventing segregation is a priority throughout the entire process. Every transfer—from the blender discharge outlet to the elevator and packaging hopper—carries a risk of material stratification due to differences in specific gravity. Chute angles, discharge outlet designs, and hopper fill levels must be engineered specifically to prevent heavier particles from sinking and lighter particles from rising.

Packaging and testing constitute the final checkpoint. After the finished product is filled to the target weight, samples from each batch are tested for nutrient content and granule strength; only products meeting specifications are approved for warehousing.

While BB fertilizer production line may appear simple, it actually requires precise control at every stage. Only by maintaining a constant focus on uniformity can one ensure that the nutrient content of every bag matches the designed formulation.
